The Comedy Asylum is one of BrightSparks' longest running projects. Led by Rob Gee, the project started out as an annual programme of workshops using improvisation to write a show for the Leicester Comedy Festival each February.
Having secured funding from the National Lottery's Big Lottery Fund, in 2016 we have been able to develop and expand the project. We now deliver regular comedy courses in Leicester and Leicestershire, including at the Recovery College. We are also working in psychiatric hospitals in Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire, having expanded the team to include local comedians Matt Hollins and Kirsty Munro.
Leicester's Comedy Asylum participants regularly perform at local venues, and their work is brilliant - come down and join us soon.
